Charivari Agréable: Divertissement Spirituel

  • Exeter College Chapel Oxford, England, OX1 3DP United Kingdom (map)

Tickets available here.

A tercentenary celebration of the Concert Spirituel, France's first commercial public subscription concert series held in Paris during religious holidays when staged works were forbidden. It immediately became a prestigious avenue for composers and virtuoso performers, as well as an important cornerstone in the development of both sacred and secular French baroque music.
Award-winning period-instrument ensemble Charivari Agréable — Gabriel Alves/Dan Watts (baroque flute & recorder), Fernando Santiago (baroque violin), Pablo Tejedor Gutiérrez (viola da gamba), and Kah-Ming Ng (harpsichord) — perform:

Pierre Danican Philidor: Trio sonata in C op.1/3
Louis-Antoine Dornel: Suitte en Trio in A op.1/2
Jean-Fery Rebel: Les Elémens
Georg Philipp Telemann: Paris Quartets
and excerpts by Jean-Marie Leclair, Jean-Baptiste Antoine Forqueray & Jean-Philippe Rameau
